11. In those days, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his brothers. And he saw their affliction and an Egyptian man striking a certain one of the Hebrews, his brothers.

Exodus 2 reports the birth of Moses and his escape from Egypt, where he was eventually raised at the house of a priest in Midian. Exodus 3:10: "Now go, for I am sending him to Pharaoh to take my people out of Egypt, the Israelites."
