12. To the people of the tribes of Reuben and Gad and to half of the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,

Joshua chapter 1 marks the beginning of Joshua's leadership over the children of Israel after the death of Moses. God commissiones Joshua to lead the people in conquering the promised land, and encourages them to be strong and brave. Joshua then transmits these words to the people, who promises to obey and follow Joshua as leader.

1 Samuel 18:14: "And David thrived in all his ways, for the Lord was with him." Just as God was with Joshua, he was also with David on his mission. This verse highlights the importance of God's presence and support in our lives.

Psalm 27:14: "Wait for you for the Lord; encourage you, and strengthen your heart; wait for the Lord." God encouraged Joshua to be strong and brave, and this verse also encourages us to trust God in difficult times and wait for him.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust the Lord of all your heart, and do not stir in your own understanding. Recognizes him in all your ways, and he will straighten your paths." God instructed Joshua to follow His Word and Leadership, and this verse teaches us to trust God and follow His ways instead of depending on our own wisdom.

Isaiah 41:10: "Do not fear, because I am with you, do not haunt yourself, because I am your God; I strengthen you, and help you, and I support you with my faithful right hand." Just as God promised Joshua that he would be with him in his mission, He also promises to be with us in all circumstances. This verse reminds us that we need not fear, for God is always with us.

Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore, go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all the things I have sent you; And behold, I am with you every day, until the consummation of the centuries. " This verse highlights the importance of obeying God's orders and following his command, just as Joshua was commissioned by God to lead his people in conquering the promised land.
