Joshua, 1

2. Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Israel.

Joshua chapter 1 marks the beginning of Joshua's leadership over the children of Israel after the death of Moses. God commissiones Joshua to lead the people in conquering the promised land, and encourages them to be strong and brave.
