30. He who, as protagonist, had devoted himself, body and soul, to his fellow-citizens, and had preserved the love he felt even in youth for those of his own race, gave orders for Nicanor's head to be cut off, with his arm up to the shoulder, and taken to Jerusalem.

God promises to be with Judas and his men during battle, strengthen them, help them, and support them with their right hand.

1 Corinthians 15:57: "But thank God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Judas and his men recognize that victory is possible only through God, and thank him for giving them victory.

2 Timothy 4:7: "I fought the good fight, I finished my career, I kept the faith." Judas and his men bravely fight the final battle, trusting God to protect them and, in the end, can overcome the good fight.
