16. He makes this point too in his letters as a whole wherever he touches on these things. In all his letters there are of course some passages which are hard to understand, and these are the ones that uneducated and unbalanced people distort, in the same way as they distort the rest of scripture--to their own destruction.

Verses related to 2 Peter, 3:

Chapter 3 of 2 Peter deals with the return of Jesus Christ and the destruction of the world by fire. Peter urges Christians to live godly and eagerly await the return of Christ. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in the chapter:

Matthew 24:36: "But about that day and time no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." This verse talks about the uncertainty of the date of Christ's return, which corroborates Peter's teaching in 2 Peter 3:10 about the coming of the Lord "as a thief."

Hebrews 10:27: "But a terrible expectation of judgment and a burning fire that will devour the opponents." The author of Hebrews talks about the punishment of the wicked on the day of judgment, a theme that is also addressed by Peter in 2 Peter 3:7.

James 5:7-8: "He thirsts, brothers, patients until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer expects the precious fruit of the earth, waiting for him with patients, until he receives the temporary rain and serod. patients and strengthen your heart, for the coming of the Lord is near. " James urges Christians to have patience until Christ's return, just as Peter does in 2 Peter 3.

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3: "For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come as a thief at night. When they say, peace and security!, Then sudden destruction will come upon them, like the pain of delivery over what It's pregnant, and they will not escape. " Paul also uses the image of the thief to describe the coming of Christ, as well as Peter in 2 Peter 3:10.

Revelation 21:1: "I saw a new sky and new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth have passed, and the sea no longer exists." John talks about the new creation God will make after the destruction of the world for fire, a theme that is mentioned by Peter in 2 Peter 3:13.
