5. And there you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones; you shall lift up no iron tool upon them.

Deuteronomy 27 is a chapter that presents instructions on the ceremony of consecration of God's law in the promised land. Deuteronomy 31:12-13: "Gather the people, men, women and children, and foreigners resident in their cities, that they may hear and learn to fear the Lord, their God, and carefully follow all the words of this law.
