Psalm 107 is a hymn of thanks to God for his kindness and mercy to rescue those who call for help in situations of distress. The psalmist describes four situations where people call for help: dangers in the desert, prison, illness and storm at sea. In each situation, the people cry out for help and God rescues them. Isaiah 61:1: "The Spirit of the Sovereign, the Lord, is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.
