The new covenant is governed by the Spirit, while the old covenant was governed by the letter of the law.

Jeremiah 31:31: "Time is coming," says the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the community of Israel and the community of Judah." Through it, those who are called can receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
