15. And so Bathsheba entered to the king in the bedroom. Now the king was very old, and Abishag, the Shunammite, was ministering to him.

Proverbs 20:29: "The glory of young people is their strength; and the beauty of the old are the babies." This verse highlights the physical weakness that advanced age can bring, as is the case of David in 1 Kings 1.

1 Chronicles 22:9: "Behold, a Son shall be born to you, who will be a man of rest; for I will give him rest of all his enemies around; for Solomon will be his name, and peace and peace I will give Israel in his days. From the Lord spoke for me, and his word is in my mouth. " These verses show David's divine authority as king of Israel and, therefore, the importance of his choice of successor in 1 Kings 1.
