1 Kings 19 tells Elijah's story after having fled to the desert, tired and afraid of Queen Jezebel, who wanted to kill him. In this chapter, Elijah has an experience with God, listening to his voice in a "soft whisper." Moreover, God instructs Elijah to anoint a new king to Israel and a new prophet to succeed him. Psalm 46:10: "Issoid, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the Gentiles; I will be exalted upon the earth."
