7. When Jacob's sons returned from the fields and heard what had happened, they were indignant and very angry that Shechem had committed what was a crime in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, something which should never be done.

If anyone hurts him on his right face, offer him the other. " This verse highlights the importance of not responding to violence with more violence, but of seeking peace and reconciliation. Diná's brothers responded to their sister's rape with violence and murder, creating an even more problematic situation.
