8. Now get up, come out and reassure your soldiers; for if you do not come out, I swear by Yahweh, not one man will stay with you tonight; and this will be a worse misfortune for you than anything that has happened to you from your youth until now!'

2 Samuel 19 describes David's restoration as king of Israel after Absalom's death. Psalm 30:5: "For your wrath lasts only a moment; in your favor is life. Crying can last a night, but joy comes in the morning." This psalm expresses David's confidence in the restoration of joy and the renewal of life after a period of sadness and pain.

Psalm 51:12: "Return the joy of your salvation, and sustain me with a voluntary spirit." David asks God to restore him and renew him in his spirit after his sin with Bathsheba and the death of Uriah.
