Chapter 13 of 1 Kings narrates the story of a prophet who is sent by God to rebuke King Jeroboam for his idolatry. The prophet performs a miracle before the king, but is deceived by an elderly man who is passed by a prophet and convinces him to disobey God's instructions. Deuteronomy 13:1-4: "If a prophet or someone who has dreams and gives you a sign or wonder arises, and if this sign or wonder he has announced if he fulfills, and if he says, 'Let's follow Other gods' - gods you do not know - 'and let us worship them,' do not listen to the words of this prophet or dreamer. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign who rescued them, bringing upon themselves sudden destruction." This verse warns that there are still people who are going through spiritual leaders, but in fact they are preaching misleading messages that can take people away from God.
Psalm 119:105: "Lamp for my feet is your word, and light to my way." This verse highlights the importance of God's Word as a guide to the Christian life. The Prophet in 1 Kings 13 would have avoided death if he had faithfully followed God's instructions.
Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding; recognize the Lord in all your ways, and He will straighten your paths."
