Acts of the Apostles 2 describes the day of Pentecost, when Jesus' disciples received the Holy Spirit and began to speak of strange languages, attracting a multitude that was amazed. Peter then preached a powerful sermon, explaining that what was happening was the realization of the prophet of the prophet Joel over the last days. Joel 2:28-29: "And after that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all peoples. Your children and their daughters will prophesy, the old will have dreams, young people will have visions. Even over the servants and the servants I will pour out of my Spirit in those days. Ephesians 5:18: "Do not be drunk with wine, which leads to liberation, but let themselves be filled with the Spirit." Here Paul is encouraging Christians to be filled with the Holy Spirit rather than seeking satisfaction in worldly things.
