Psalm 61 is a Psalm of David in which he cries to God for help and protection. David feels downcast and distant from God, but trusts his mercy and power to help him overcome his problems and strengthen him. He asks God to lead him to the highest rock and to protect him under his wings. Psalms 27:5: "For on the day of adversity he will hide me in his pavilion; in the recklessness of his tabernacle will hide me; on a rock he will raise me." This verse shows that David trusts God to protect and hide him during his adversities.

Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and fortress, a good help in anguish." This verse presents God as a refuge and fortress for those who need help in times of anguish, which is exactly what David seeks in Psalm 61.
