Nehemiah 7 reports the organization of the people after the reconstruction of the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah is in charge of selecting leaders and establishing a genealogical record of the people who returned from Babylonian exile. He names Hanani and Hananias to supervise the city and the gates, and also designates guards to protect the city. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Nehemiah 7:

Nehemiah 7:5: "And my God put in my heart together the nobles, the officers, and the people so that they could be recorded by genealogy." Nehemiah begins the process of genealogical registration of the people who returned from exile.

Nehemiah 7:3: "And I said unto them, Do not open the doors of Jerusalem until the sun is hot, and while the porters are still there, lock the doors and lock them while they are still in Guard.
