1 These were the people of the province who returned from captivity and exile. After being deported to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, they returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his own town.

63 and His Excellency forbade them to eat the sacred foods until a priest could be found for the Urim and Thummim.
64 The whole assembly numbered forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty people,
65 not counting their slaves and maidservants to the number of seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven. They also had two hundred male and female singers.
66 Their horses numbered seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules two hundred and forty-five,
67 their camels four hundred and thirty-five and their donkeys six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 When they arrived at the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem, some of the leaders of the clans made voluntary offerings for the Temple of God, for its rebuilding on its old site.
69 In accordance with their means they gave one thousand drachmas of gold; 5,740 minas of silver; and one hundred priestly robes to the sacred funds.
70 The priests, Levites and part of the people settled in Jerusalem; the gatekeepers, Temple musicians, workmen and all the other Israelites, in their own towns.
