1 Maccabees, 1

43. And king Antiochus wrote to all his kingdom, that all the people must be one, and that each one should relinquish his own law.

The book of 1 Maccabees narrates the history of the Jews in the intertestamentary period, between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament.
