2. Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples

Isaiah 55:1: "O you, all who have thirst, come to the waters, and those who do not have money, come, buy, and eat; yes, come, buy, without money and no price, wine and milk." John 14:6: "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but for me." Jesus states that He is the only way to come to God and find true life and peace.

Matthew 11:28-29: "Come to me, all who are tired and oppressed, and I will relieve you. Take my yoke, and learn from me, that I am meek and humble with heart; and you will find rest for the Your souls. " Jesus invites people to approach him, clinging to Him and learning of him to find rest and peace in his souls.

Luke 9:23: "He said to all," If anyone wants to come after me, to deny himself, day by day take his cross, and follow me. " Jesus calls people to leave everything and follow him, assuming his cross daily and finding life in union with him.
