Psalm 45 is a poem in honor of a king, probably Solomon, but with possible references to the Messiah. The chapter exalts beauty, justice, wisdom, and the power of the king, and compares him to God. Isaiah 9:6: "For a boy was born to us, a son has been given to us, and the government is over his shoulders. And he will be called the wonderful counselor, God strong, eternal father, prince of peace." This verse prophesies about the birth of the Messiah, which would be a wise and powerful leader.
