Ezra, 5

5. But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this [matter].

Ezra 5 describes the resumption of the construction of the temple in Jerusalem after being interrupted by a decree of the Persian king. The Prophets Haggai and Zechariah urged the people to continue the work, and the construction of the temple was finally authorized by King Darius.

2 Chronicles 36:23: "Thus says Cyrus, king of Persia: The Lord God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and in charge of building a house in Jerusalem, who is in Judah. All his people, be it his God with him, and climb Jerusalem, who is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is the God) who is in Jerusalem. " This verse shows that the Persian king Cyrus allowed God's people to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple.
