Jeremiah, 42

4. Jeremiah the prophet said to them, "I have heard you; behold, I will pray to the LORD your God according to your request, and whatever the LORD answers you I will tell you; I will keep nothing back from you."

In Jeremiah 42, the remnant of Judah, led by Joanan, consults Jeremiah to find out whether or not to go to Egypt in search of security. Jeremiah seeks God's will and responds that if they remain in Judah, they will be blessed, but if they go to Egypt, they will be punished. However, they refuse to listen and decide to go to Egypt. Jeremiah 7:3: "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: improve their ways and actions, and I will make them dwell in this place." This verse shows God's message to the people of Judah, encouraging them to repent and improve their actions so that they can remain in their land.
