3. Abram had been in the land of Canaan ten years when Sarai, his wife, took Hagar, her Egyptian maid, and gave her to Abram her husband as wife.

Genesis 16 deals with the story of Sarai, wife of Abram, who could not get pregnant and decided to offer his Egyptian servant, Hagar, to have a child in his place.
