Jonas 1 tells the story of God's call to Jonas to preach in Nineveh, but instead of obeying, Jonas tries to escape and ends up being thrown into the sea during a storm. Here are five verses related to the topics covered in Jonah 1:

Proverbs 21:30: "There is no wisdom, no intelligence, no advice against the Lord." The chapter of Jonas 1 clearly illustrates the uselessness of trying to escape the call of God. Acts 27:25: "Therefore, O men, tend to good courage; for I believe in God, that it will happen as I was told." In this chapter of Acts, Paul is facing a storm on the high seas and encourages others to trust God. Like Jonas, the sailors in Acts learn to trust God during a storm at sea.
