Psalm 55 is a lament of David in the face of his anguish and suffering, caused by the words and treacherous actions of his enemies. The psalmist begs God to save him and judge his enemies, trusting that he will hear and act. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 55:
Psalms 31:22: "But I trust you, Lord, and say, You are my God." David expresses his confidence in God, even in the midst of difficulties and betrayals.
Psalm 54:4: "Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the one who sustains my life." The psalmist recognizes that only God can help and sustain him in times of distress.
Psalm 56:9: "When I cry out, then my enemies will come back; this I know, because God is for me." David trusts that God will hear him and act in his favor, making his enemies back off.
Psalm 57:1: "There is mercy on me, O God, has mercy on me, because my soul trusts in you; and in the shadow of your wings she shelters until the calamities pass." David calls for mercy and divine protection, knowing that only in God can find refuge.
Psalm 59:9: "But I will sing your strength; in the morning I will praise your mercy with joy; for you have my high refuge, and protection on the day of my anguish." David praises God for his strength and mercy, recognizing that He is his refuge and protection in the midst of distress.
