9. After this Sennach'erib king of Assyria, who was besieging Lachish with all his forces, sent his servants to Jerusalem to Hezeki'ah king of Judah and to all the people of Judah that were in Jerusalem, saying,

2 Chronicles 32 tells the story of Senaqueribe, king of Assyria, besieting Jerusalem and challenging the God of Israel. This verse talks about the importance of preparation for battle, but also about the need to trust God for victory. Hezekiah led the people of Judah in preparation for the battle, but also trusted God for victory.

Isaiah 37:14-15: "Hezekiah took the letter from the hands of the messengers and read it; then he climbed to the house of the Lord and reached out before the Lord. Isaiah 37:36: "Then the angel of the Lord came out and killed at the Assyrian camp at one hundred and eighty -five thousand of them; and when the rest in the morning were lifted, behold, all were corpses." This verse describes how God sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army and save Jerusalem. It was a powerful demonstration of the power of God and his faithfulness to his people.

Romans 8:31: "What do we say, therefore, to these things? If God is for us who will be against us?" This verse talks about the certainty of victory when you trust God. Hezekiah and the people of Judah trusted God and were victorious against the Assyrian army. It is a memory that God is always on the side of his children and that nothing can defeat those who trust him.
