8. But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Chapter 3 of 2 Peter deals with the return of Jesus Christ and the destruction of the world by fire. Peter urges Christians to live godly and eagerly await the return of Christ. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in the chapter:

Hebrews 10:27: "But a terrible expectation of judgment and a burning fire that will devour the opponents." The author of Hebrews talks about the punishment of the wicked on the day of judgment, a theme that is also addressed by Peter in 2 Peter 3:7.
