Chapter 36 of Genesis is dedicated to Esau's genealogy and its descendants, presenting a list of names and lineages. Among the topics covered in the chapter, we highlight Esau's offspring, the formation of nations from these strains and the relationship between the Edomites and other peoples.
Deuteronomy 2:12 - "They had lived in her the Horeus, big people, and numerous, and loud as the anachins." This verse refers to the Horeus, one of the peoples who inhabited the region of Seir before the arrival of the Edomites, as mentioned in Genesis 36:20.
Isaiah 34:5-6 - "For it will be my drunk gladium in heaven; behold, it will come down, and over the people of my anathema to exercise judgment. sheep and goats, of the fat of the kidney range kidney; for the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozra, and great killing in the land of Edom. " This verse speaks of the imminent destruction of Edom by God's hands, presenting a counterpoint to the glory of the duomeds presented in Chapter 36 of Genesis.
Ezekiel 25:12-14-"Thus saith the Lord God, For Edom if there was revenge to the house of Judah, and he blamed himself with her; so the Lord God says: I will also extend my hand on Edom, and I will eliminate men and animals; and I will transform it into desolation; from time to Dedan they will fall to the sword. Malachi 1:2-3 - "I loved you, says the Lord; but do you say, What did you love us? It was not Esu's brother of Jacob? I have a desolation, and I gave its inheritance to the chakals of the desert. " This verse presents God's love for Jacob and his descent, in contrast to the rejection of Esau and his descent, as presented in Genesis 36.
