In Jeremiah 42, the remnant of Judah, led by Joanan, consults Jeremiah to find out whether or not to go to Egypt in search of security. Jeremiah 26:13: "Now change their lives and conduct, and obey the voice of the Lord, His God, that He may repent of the evil he has announced against you." This verse shows how Jeremiah urges the people to repent and change their lives to avoid divine punishment.
