17. At that time my anger will flare up against them; I will forsake them and hide my face from them, so that they will become a prey to be devoured, and many evils and troubles will befall them. At that time they will indeed say, 'Is it not because our God is not among us that these evils have befallen us?'

Deuteronomy 31 addresses the transition from Moses to Joshua and the importance of obedience to God's law. Joshua 1:7-8: "Only be strong and very brave to be careful to do according to the whole law that my servant Moses ordered you; it does not deviate from it, neither right nor left, so that you may be Successful wherever you walk. Do not depart from your mouth the book of this law, first meditate on him day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in Him; successful." Joshua 23:6: "He thirsts hard to keep you and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, not turning to you to the right or left." Joshua reminds the people of the importance of obeying God's law and not deviating from it.

Psalm 119:165: "Great peace have those who love your law, and for them there is no stumble." Obedience to God's law brings peace and avoids sin.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust the Lord of all your heart, and do not stir in your own understanding. Recognizes him in all your ways, and he will straighten your paths." Confidence in God and obedience to your law are important for guidance in life.

Romans 2:13: "For the simple listeners of the law are not righteous before God, but those who practice the law will be justified." Obedience to God's Law is important for justification before Him.
