20. Should evil be rendered for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul! Remember that I have stood in your sight, so as to speak on their behalf for good, and to avert your indignation from them.

Jeremiah chapter 18 presents the metaphor of the potter and the clay, in which God is the potter and the people is the clay. Isaiah 64:8: "But now, Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you, our potter; and all of us, work of your hands." This verse also uses the metaphor of the potter and the clay to show the relationship between God and his people.

2 Timothy 2:20-21: "Now, in a large house, there are not only gold and silver utensils, but also of wood and mud; some, for honor; others, but for dishonor. Psalms 2:9: "With an iron stick you will torn them like a potter vase." This verse talks about how God can destroy those who rebel against Him, just as a clay vase can be shattered.
