This verse is quoted in Hebrews 8:8-12 to show that the new covenant established by Jesus Christ was prophesied by the prophet Jeremiah. This new covenant is superior to the old covenant established with Israel.

This verse points out that the death of Jesus Christ was the price paid to establish the new covenant and fulfill divine promises. Through it, those who are called can receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
