1 Kings 19 tells Elijah's story after having fled to the desert, tired and afraid of Queen Jezebel, who wanted to kill him. 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us the spirit of cowardice, but of power, love and moderation." Elijah may have felt cowardly and afraid, but this verse shows us that God has given us a spirit of power and love, and that we can be brave through His strength.

2 Kings 2:9: "And it happened that if they have passed, Elijah said to Elisha, Ask me what you want to do to you before it is taken from you. And Elisha said, I ask you that there is a double portion of yours Spirit upon me. " This verse shows how God was preparing Elisha to succeed Elijah as a prophet in Israel.
