Psalms, 70

1. For the leader; of David. For remembrance.

2. Graciously rescue me, God! Come quickly to help me, LORD!

3. Confound and put to shame those who seek my life. Turn back in disgrace those who desire my ruin.

4. Let those who say "Aha!" turn back in their shame.

5. But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. May those who long for your help always say, "God be glorified!"

6. Here I am, afflicted and poor. God, come quickly! You are my help and deliverer. LORD, do not delay!

Psalm 70 is a psalm of supplication, in which the psalmist cries to God for help and deliverance before his enemies. He begins by asking God to save him and help him quickly, and expresses his confidence that God is his help and liberator. Then he pray to God to embarrass and confuse those who seek to harm him. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this Psalm:

Psalm 35:4: "Those who seek to take my life be confused and humiliated; go back and confuse those who plot against me." Like the psalmist of Psalm 70, the psalmist of this verse asks God to confuse and humble those who seek to harm him.

Psalm 71:12: "O God, do not stretch you of me; my God, hurry to help me." This verse expresses the same urgency and supplication of the Psalm of Psalm 70, which asks God to help him quickly.

Psalm 83:16: "Cover them with shame, that they may seek your name, Lord." The Psalm of Psalm 70 asks God to embarrass their enemies so that they perceive God's superiority and seek his name.

Psalm 86:17: "Show me a sign for good, to see and confuse those who hate me; for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me." The psalmist of this verse also asks God for a sign of help and deliverance, and expresses his confidence in God's help and comfort.

Psalm 143:7: "Answer me quickly, Lord, for my spirit fade; do not hide from me to your face, so that I may not be similar to those who descend to the grave." Like the psalmist of Psalm 70, the psalmist of this verse calls for God for quick help and expresses his despair at the difficulties he faces.
