8. For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.

Chapter 11 of 1 Corinthians deals with some issues related to order and decency in public worship, including the use of veils by women and the practice of the Lord's supper. The verses related to these themes are:

1 Timothy 2:9-10: "Likewise, I want women to be modestly seen, with decency and discretion, not adorning with braids, gold, pearls or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is appropriate to women who profess Worship God." 1 Corinthians 10:16-17: "The chalice of the blessing we bless is not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread we depart is not the communion of the body of Christ? Ephesians 5:22-23: "Women, are subjecting to your husband, as to the Lord, for the husband is the head of the woman, as Christ is the head of the church, who is his body, of which he is the Savior." 1 Peter 3:3-4: "Their ornament should not be in the outer ornaments, such as braided hair and thin jewelry or thin clothes, but in the inner being, in the heart, which does not perish, and in the Spirit, which is genuine and honest." This verse deals with modesty again, noting that the true value of the person is in his character and not in his garments.

Matthew 26:26-28: "As they ate, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take and eat; this is my body.' Thanks and offered him to the disciples, saying, 'Drink from him all of you. This is my covenant blood, which is shed for many for forgiveness of sins.' This verse is another direct reference to the Lord's Supper, showing the importance that Jesus gave to this practice.
