Deuteronomy, 1

13. Let me have from among you wise and understanding men, and such whose conversation is approved among your tribes, that I may appoint them your rulers.

Deuteronomy 1 is a chapter where Moses recalls the history of the Israelites since they left Egypt until they reached the border of the promised land. Deuteronomy 6:4-6 - "Hear, Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and of all thy forces. Deuteronomy 10:12-13 - "Now, O Israel, who is that the Lord your God requires from you, but that you have the Lord thy God, who you walk in all his ways, and the Ames, and the Lord, and the Lord, and to the Lord, and to the Lord, and to the Lord, and to the Lord, and to Your God with all your heart and your soul, to keep the commandments of the Lord and your statutes that I command you today, for your good? Deuteronomy 28:1-2 - "And if you hear the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to keep all His commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will exalt you over all the nations of the earth. These blessings will come upon you and reach you when you hear the voice of the Lord your God. " Moses promises to the people that if they obey God, He will bless them abundantly.
