19. And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

Deuteronomy 1 is a chapter where Moses recalls the history of the Israelites since they left Egypt until they reached the border of the promised land. Deuteronomy 10:12-13 - "Now, O Israel, who is that the Lord your God requires from you, but that you have the Lord thy God, who you walk in all his ways, and the Ames, and the Lord, and the Lord, and to the Lord, and to the Lord, and to the Lord, and to the Lord, and to Your God with all your heart and your soul, to keep the commandments of the Lord and your statutes that I command you today, for your good? Deuteronomy 28:1-2 - "And if you hear the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to keep all His commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will exalt you over all the nations of the earth. These blessings will come upon you and reach you when you hear the voice of the Lord your God. " Moses promises to the people that if they obey God, He will bless them abundantly.
