17. And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not [through] the way of the land of the Philistines, although that [was] near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

Chapter 13 of Exodus deals with the celebration of the feast of the punes and the consecration of the firstborn. Moses guides the people of Israel to celebrate the feast every year as a memory of the liberation of Egypt, and also establishes the practice of consecrating all the firstborn of men and animals to the Lord.
