5. When my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens, lo, it shall come down in judgment upon Edom, a people I have doomed.

The chapter emphasizes the total destruction and the desolation that will come over these wicked nations as a result of divine justice. " Amos denounces Edom for his cruelty and violence against the people of Israel, and prophesies that God will judge them for their sins.
