17. And I will execute great vengeance upon them, rebuking them in fury: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Amos 1:3: "Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not remove the punishment, because they have traced Gilead with iron rails." In this verse, God talks about the judgment of Damascus because of his transgressions.
