Job, 14

12. So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens [be] no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

In Job chapter 14, the character expresses his anguish in the face of the brevity of human life and the inevitability of death. Revelation 21:4: "And God will clean from his eyes every tear; and there will be no more death, no weeping, no cry, no pain; for the first things are passed." This verse speaks of hope in eternal life in a new heaven and new earth, where there will be no more pain, death or sadness.
