Mark, 15

1. First thing in the morning, the chief priests, together with the elders and scribes and the rest of the Sanhedrin, had their plan ready. They had Jesus bound and took him away and handed him over to Pilate.

St. Mark 15 describes the arrest, judgment and crucifixion of Jesus. The chapter is rich in detail and emotion, and reveals the injustice that Jesus suffered in the hands of the religious and political leaders of his time. Hebrews 12:2: "Looking at Jesus, author and consummator of faith, who for the sake of him endured the cross, despising the affront, and settled on the right hand of the throne of God." This verse encourages us to follow the example of Jesus, who endured the cross and overcame temptation so that we may have eternal life with Him in heaven.
