9. When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne;

Revelation 6 deals with the opening of the first six seals of the book in the hands of the Lamb. Each seal represents a series of judgments and events that occur on Earth during the tribulation. The verses selected below were chosen for their relationship with the themes dealt with in the chapter.
