18. By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulphur issuing from their mouths.

Revelation 9 describes the opening of the fifth and sixth seals, which results in the release of terrible pests on the earth. Luke 21:25:25-26: "There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; on the earth, anguish between nations in perplexity because of the bustle of the sea and the waves; men fainting from terror, expecting things that will survive to the world." Joel 2:4-5: "Your appearance is like that of horses; and how knights like this. Isaiah 13:10: "For the stars of heaven and their constellations shall not give their light; the sun shall be dark at birth, and the moon will not shine with its light." This verse describes the darkness that will cover the earth during the end of time, similar to what is described in the sixth seal of Revelation 9.
