37. As the LORD has been with your royal majesty, so may he be with Solomon, and exalt his throne even more than that of my lord, King David!"

1 Kings 1 deals with David's succession to the throne of Israel. When David is already old and debilitated, Adonias, his eldest son, tries to usurp the throne for himself. Proverbs 20:29: "The glory of young people is their strength; and the beauty of the old are the babies." This verse highlights the physical weakness that advanced age can bring, as is the case of David in 1 Kings 1.
