19. And so, write this canticle now, and teach it to the sons of Israel, so that they may retain it in memory, and may chant it by mouth, and so that this verse may be a testimony to me among the sons of Israel.

Deuteronomy 31 addresses the transition from Moses to Joshua and the importance of obedience to God's law. Joshua 1:7-8: "Only be strong and very brave to be careful to do according to the whole law that my servant Moses ordered you; it does not deviate from it, neither right nor left, so that you may be Successful wherever you walk.
