17. And Hananiah the prophet died in that year, in the seventh month.

This verse warns of the existence of false prophets who make signs and wonders to deceive people, and states that even Christians can be deceived if they are not aware.

1 John 4:1: "Beloved, do not believe the whole Spirit, but prove whether the spirits are of God; for many false prophets have come out around the world." The verse urges Christians to test spirits to verify that messages and teachings are indeed from God, for many false prophets are acting in the world.
