7. But he said to me, "You are going to conceive and will give birth to a son. From now on, drink no wine or fermented liquor, and eat nothing unclean. For the boy is to be God's nazirite from his mother's womb to his dying day." '

Chapter 13 of the Judges Book tells the story of Samson's birth. An angel of the Lord appeared to the wife of Manoá, who was barren, and announced that she would give birth to a son who would be consecrated to God from the womb and would begin to free Israel from the yoke of the Philistines. After that, the angel is gone and Manoá and his wife acknowledged that they had seen God Himself.
