6. Then A'chish called David and said to him, "As the LORD lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that you should march out and in with me in the campaign; for I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Proverbs 29:25: "The fear of man shall arm ties, but what he trusts in the Lord will be put in high retreat." The Philistine leaders feared that David would change aside in battle and thus set a bond so he could not fight them.

Psalm 118:8-9: "It is better to trust the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to trust the Lord than to trust princes." David trusted the Lord to protect him, even when the Philistine leaders rejected him.
