6. Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few men are left.

The chapter begins with the description of the earth being completely devastated and its inhabitants suffering the consequences of evil they have practiced. He then talks about the punishment that will come upon the powerful of the earth and the glory that God will receive when restoring the order. " This verse talks about the glory that God will receive when bringing judgment on the earth and punishing the wicked.

Isaiah 26:21 - "For behold, the Lord will leave his place to punish the residents of the earth because of his iniquity; and the earth will discover his blood, and will no longer cover his dead." This verse talks about how God will come out of his place to punish the residents of the earth because of his iniquity.
